Until 1922 the Château sofer some rough times, that only stopped when Philippe de Rothschild took charge and in 1924 had his first successful inhouse bottling. Château Mouton arrived at its highest recognition as a great wine in 1945, since then all labels are illustrated by famous contemporary artists, such as Picasso, Chagall, Miró, etc. Château Mouton was elevated to Premier Grand Cru Classé, In recognition of a great wine: the elite of the Médoc wines.

Their wines are powerful and rich but with a sense of quality; and a velvet texture when aged. They truly are magnificent and unforgettable wines. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot grape varieties, in percentages that vary from year to year, although Cabernet Sauvignon will always be in the majority. Over the years many wines, and theire stories, were born in this magnificent Château. The wines will speak for themselves, they were some of the most popular wines worldwide.
