Description

The wines of Colares are a paradox without equality in Portugal. Let's start with the vineyard, which is fully planted on an "impressive" 15 hectares, which in itself gives some idea of the dynamics of this tiny region. There is also the unusual fact that these vines were never affected by the Phylloxera scourge at the end of the 19th century, as they are planted on sandy soils. But Colares, despite these paradoxes is a region in its own right, home to genuine wines full of character. They were some of the most highly regarded and sought-after wines in the 30s, 40s, and 50s of the last century.

Even today we can still find precisely those wines, from those times, in enviable health, which gives these wines unrivalled longevity only possible in great wines. The main grape varieties are Ramisco for reds and Malvasia de Colares for whites. Both grape varieties, due to their exceptional maritime influence, confer uniqueness and unique character to these wines which deserve to be known.
