For over two centuries the name Dow's is referred to as one of the best Port wines. Throughout the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, the Symington generations have worked in Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira, creating from these vines superbly concentrated, intense and tannic wines when young, with ageing appearing elegance and perfume with aromas of violet and mint. The drier finish is the distinctive image of the wines of this great company of Port wines.
Dow's Vintage Port presents a black-purple colour. It's austere, complex and intensely concentrated, full-bodied and harmonious. With fine and spicy tannins, this Vintage Port also as a taste of abundant fruits with notes of ripe wild berries that confers elegance and bearing. In the nose, it's intense and powerful with concentrated notes of violets when young, evolving into cinnamon and rose tea as it ages. The high percentage of Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional grape varieties gives rise to the powerful and potential structure. It was aged in oak casks for about 18 months and bottled without any kind of filtration or glueing. Dow's Vintage Port wine can be enjoyed when vibrant and youthful or can age for many years in the bottle, evolving into a soft, delicate wine with a velvety eleganc.
