The House of Krug was established in Reims in 1843 by Joseph Krug, a visionary non-conformist with an uncompromising philosophy. Having understood that the very essence of Champagne is pleasure itself, his dream was to make the best Champagne every year, regardless of the annual variations in the weather. By paying attention to the character of the vineyard, respecting the individuality of each parcel as well as its wine, he was able to build up an extensive library of reserve wines from different years, enabling Joseph Krug to produce champagne with a level of distinction. Thus, for some six generations, the dream has been perpetuated and his champagne admired. After aging in bottle in the cellar for over ten years, Krug Clos du Mesnil 1998 is a portrait of finesse and harmony. With a pale and luminous golden colour, mineral aromas combined with those of candied fruit and white truffle, it boasts an intense purity. On the palate, the flavours of citrus, vanilla and herbs with a crisp structure, presents a velvety texture and persistent finish will surprise you.
