1999 Colares Chitas red
Description
The wine from Colares is characterised by being unique in the world. The terroir with strong Atlantic influence results in wines with extraordinary salinity, as well as complex aromas that improve with bottle ageing.
This house was founded in 1898 by António Bernardino da Silva Chitas in Azenhas do Mar. During the first years, its sales were concentrated in the Lisbon region and in large-scale exports to Brazil. Followed by his son, also António Bernardino da Silva Chitas Júnior, and currently, by his grandson António Bernardino Paulo da Silva, his sales are today concentrated not only in the domestic market but also in the export of wines to various European countries and the United States of America.
