Description
The man behind the Torero wines - André Herrera Almeida, worked almost exclusively in the Alentejo, especially in the Fita Preta by António Maçanita. André did a bit of everything at Fita Preta, from the management of the cellar to the elaboration of final lots. That is why in Alentejo and in the Estate of Murteirinha, property that the parents maintain between Estremoz and Arraiolos, he started his personal project. His wines are unrepeatable and conceptual, as confirmed by the winemaker himself, limited editions, wines that are a marker of the time in which he followed (and still follows) what his intuition and experience presaged. According to André, they are wines between the Old and New World, made with Alentejo grapes, but using various techniques developed in Australia, where he spent two seasons. Wines, especially red wines, admittedly excessive, in extraction, in potency and in alcohol, but also full of character. The time in barrel and the battonage are always maximized, near, or even beyond, the limit. Wines - white and red and still rosé - that André wanted them to be subjected to a radical winemaking, and then followed almost obsession with their evolution in bottle for a decade.
