2012 Taylor's Quinta de Vargellas Vintage Port
Description
Quinta das Vargellas Vintage 2012 presents a deep and opaque ruby colour with a vivid purple rim. The nose is fine and delicate, with pure woodland fruit aromas, combined with notes of wild plants and rockrose and discreet vanilla notes. The floral aromas that are the hallmark of Vargellas are evident, the violet fragrances combined with delicate floral aromas and wild plant notes. On the palate, a stream of very clean and vibrant red fruit flavours flows from start to finish. Normally fine but vigorous tannins emerge providing tightness and an attractive feel of a very austere wine. A wonderful, harmonious vintage port, with every element in its place.
Created over three centuries ago in 1692, Taylor's is one of the oldest port trading houses which is dedicated exclusively to the production of port and especially its finest styles. As an independent company whose success is inseparable from the success of the Douro region itself, Taylor's remains committed to protecting this beautiful region by practicing viticulture that is economically and environmentally sustainable. The future of the Douro Valley and its unique environment is also the future of Port wine, one of the world's great classic wines and an irreplaceable part of the heritage of humanity. For many, Taylor's is the most illustrious Port house, and drinking its wines is the most sublime of experiences.
