The Quinta de Saes Estágio Prolongado is a Dão red wine that combines elegance and depth, showcasing the benefits of spending two winters ageing in oak barrels. Made from a blend of old vines, Touriga Nacional and Alfrocheiro, it displays aromas of wild berries, herbal nuances and a subtle earthy note. On the palate, it is fresh and refined, with precise tannins, excellent balance and a long, harmonious finish, offering both finesse and ageing potential.
The first historical references about Quinta da Pellada seem to be around 1570. The Dão wine region was established in 1908, framed by three mountain ranges - Buçaco, Caramulo and Serra da Estrela – and preserve from the Atlantic winds, the region as very special climatic conditions and this producer Alvaro Castro is one of the best Portuguese producers and unquestionable leader in Dão wine region.
