It all begins many decades ago, with the arrival of Mr. Manuel Monteiro, a native of Bragança, to the Douro region to prepare land with Buldozers to plant the vineyards, all over the Douro region. After marrying my mother, Arlete Salta Monteiro, a native of São João da Pesqueira, begins her wine-growing project on her inherited and acquired land - Quinta dos Nogueirões, Quinta do Praito and Quinta da Portela, among other smaller properties. dimension, all located on the right bank of the Rio Torto, with vineyards, olive, cherry, almond and this work continues to this day and the 5 children, from an early age, helped build this heritage with over 60ha and almost 200 tons of grape production, thus creating affinity and complicity with the land and the Region. In 2011, and after decades of selling the grapes produced to the best Port and Douro wine companies, the conditions were right to begin a new step in the family project of processing and marketing our raw materials. Thus is born the company Quinta dos Nogueirões, name derived from the largest property of the family. From the excellent location of our farms, allied to native planted grape varieties, good viticultural practices in Integrated Production, vinification and stages by still traditional methods, we have obtained differentiating “nectars” of concentrated fruit and unique expressions from a terroir of excellence to generous wine production. To date, there has been a continuation of investments and interventions on the land with new vineyard plantations, olive groves and the creation of spaces for wine tourism as well as the construction of a new winery, which will allow to expand the entire productive dimension of the company.
