2017 Alto do Joa rosé
Description
Alto do Joa rose is a strong example of what winemaking was like pre-Phylloxera. This wine is produced, exclusively, from vineyards over 120 years old, where it was possible to identify grape varieties such as Bastardo, Mourisco red, Cornifesto, Tinta Bairrada, Tinta Amarela, Alvarelhão, Malvasia Preta, Jaen, Moscatel, Esgana Cão, Formosa, Síria, D. Branca, Gouveio, Folgasão and Chasselas Salsa. About 18% are unidentifiable.
After 11 months of maturing in French oak barrels, this is a wine that translates as complex, elegant, and with a lot of personality.
