Description

Alto do Joa red wine is a strong example of what winemaking was like pre-Phylloxera. This wine is produced exclusively from 120-year-old vines, where it was possible to identify grape varieties such as Bastardo, Mourisco red, Cornifesto, Tinta Bairrada, Tinta Amarela, Alvarelhão, Malvasia Preta, Jaen, Moscatel, Esgana Cão, Formosa, Síria, D. Branca, Gouveio, Folgasão and Chasselas Salsa. About 18% are unidentifiable.

After 28 months of ageing in French oak barrels, this is a wine that is complex, elegant and with a lot of personality.
