Description

António Madeira, French Luso-descendant, has his family roots in the foothills of Serra da Estrela, Dão sub-region. In these highlands, António believes that the historic heart of the Dão is found, the area that has the greatest potential for wine ageing, the area where the wines are finer, fresher, more austere, and mineral.

Since 2010, António Madeira has been researching in this sub-region the places that our ancestors chose as the best for vineyards, those that we could call the "Grand Crus of the Dão serrano". It has thus come to find a series of old vineyards that stand out for the genuineness of their grape varieties, the characteristics and nuances of their granite soils where their roots are deeply immersed, and the solar exposures. Among them is the vine that originated this wine. It is a 50-year-old vineyard saved from abandonment, after not having been pruned for 3 years.
