António José Ribeiro Saramago was born in Vila Nogueira de Azeitão in 1948, and from an early age, he showed a passion for the world of wine, not least due to the influence of his father, José Maria Saramago, who was a winemaker at the José Maria da Fonseca company for 42 years. With more than 200 awards, many of his wines have been highly appreciated by the national and international wine press, the latter including Jancis Robinson and Robert Parker.
