2017 Filipa Pato Nossa Calcário red

Made exclusively from the Baga grape variety, sourced from certified organic and biodynamic vineyards, Nossa Calcário Red is a pure and profound expression of the limestone soils that give it its name.

It has an intense cherry red colour with ruby reflections and excellent concentration. The aroma reveals great purity, dominated by notes of violets and wild strawberries, enveloped by subtle smoky and spicy hints when young. With ageing, it gains complexity, energy and aromatic depth.

On the palate, it is structured and intense, with fine, noble tannins that are perfectly integrated. Rich but balanced, it combines a silky texture with a vibrant acidity that gives it freshness and longevity. The finish is long, elegant and harmonious.

A wine with a strong gastronomic vocation, ideal for accompanying simply cooked quality meats, game and cheeses with character. With extraordinary ageing potential, it can evolve in the bottle for several decades, revealing additional layers of complexity over time.

Filipa Pato is the confirmation of the old saying "the son of a fish can swim". Although she followed in the footsteps of her father Luís Pato, including in her academic training, Filipa always wanted to have her world, her project, where she would show her ideas, and rise with her pulse. It was the 2001 vintage, a great year in Bairrada, that would provide all this.

Today, her wines are the result of Filipa's innovative and brilliant spirit, which have quickly become successful nationally and internationally.
