2017 Quinta do Cerrado Reserva red
Description
Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels and 6 months in the bottle. A garnet coloured wine, with intense aromas of red berries and jam. With a subtle complexity, it is elegant, well structured and harmonious.
Located in the birthplace of the Dão, União Comercial da Beira is one of the oldest wine producers in the region. It was 1942 when the Cunha Martins family founded União Comercial da Beira (UCB). A determined and hard-working man, its founder Alexandre Henriques Martins, a native of Beira, passed on to his descendants not only this ambitious project but also his attachment to tradition and the incurable passion for his work. His son Fernando da Cunha Martins managed this family business for a few years. In the third generation, through the hands of his granddaughter Cristina Cunha Martins, the company saw its image renewed and new products launched.
In the 1980s, UCB acquired Quinta do Cerrado, 300 metres from its headquarters in Oliveirinha. In the 1990s, it transformed the apple orchards into vineyards, where the main varieties of the region were planted, followed by the construction of the winery and finally the creation of its own brands, with ranges whose wines were elegant without losing the typicality of Dão wines.
