Quinta de Tourais is situated two kilometers away from Peso da Régua in the beautiful area of the river Douro. The winery is owned by family Coelho in the third generation and is now lead by Fernando, the youngest of three brothers and sisters. The winery is known for their unique wines and also as a great place for tourists. Until 1998 the whole grape harvest has been sold to different companies to produce Port wines. Since 1999 the winery is producing their own wines. The Douro valley surrounded by 600m high vineyards is a breathtaking landscape and was appointed as UNESCO World Heritage in 2001. The area around Baixo Corgo (Lower Corgo) with its perfect climate conditions is the most western part of the three sub-regions of the Douro Valley. Many hours of sunshine combined with some cooler and wetter climate than the two neighboring regions, the lower corgo is ideal for producing wines.
