2018 Quinta do Crasto Touriga Nacional red 1.5L
Description
Quinta do Crasto Touriga Nacional is a wine produced only in truly exceptional years. It is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels with a light toast, carefully crafted to highlight the freshness and distinctive aromas of this grape variety. It displays a vibrant, concentrated violet colour and intensely expressive primary aromas, marked by remarkable freshness, wild berry notes and subtle hints of oak. On the palate, it is smooth and enveloping, with great elegance and presence, evolving into a wine of excellent volume, firm structure and fresh, finely textured tannins. The finish is long, persistent, balanced and spicy, leaving a pleasant sensation of freshness.
Located on the right bank of the Douro River, between Régua and Pinhão, Quinta do Crasto is a property of about 130 hectares, 70 of which are occupied by vineyards. Also part of the company's estate is Quinta do Querindelo, with 10 hectares of Vinha Velha, and Quinta da Cabreira, in the Upper Douro, with 114 hectares of vines.
With a privileged location in the Douro Demarcated Region, Quinta do Crasto has been owned by the family of Leonor and Jorge Roquette for over a century. As is usually the case with the great Quintas of the Douro, the origin of Quinta do Crasto dates back to distant times - the name Crasto derives from the Latin "castrum", meaning Roman fort.
