2018 Susana Esteban Special Edition red

This red wine, from the exceptional 2018 vintage, was created from a selection of 5 barrels that stood out for their enormous complexity and ageing capacity. The grapes come from vineyards located in the Serra de São Mamede, were vinified in lagares and aged in French oak barrels for 3 years until bottling in December 2021.

Produced mainly with the Alicante Bouschet grape variety, it reveals an aroma that impresses with its intensity and particularity, the result of the combination with Touriga Nacional. The palate is deep and mineral, with soft, elegant tannins that give it a unique complexity.

Susana Esteban is one of the winemakers in Portugal who has won the most awards. Her ingenious creations remain in the memory and her partnerships reveal what is good in the world of Portuguese wines.

Susana began her career in 1999 and it was in 2011 that she established her project in the Alentejo, when she acquired her first plots of vineyards.

In 2012 she was awarded the most prestigious prize a winemaker can receive in Portugal, the title of "Winemaker of the Year", by Revista de Vinhos, and to date she is the only woman to have been awarded this honour.
