2019 Monte Xisto Órbita organic red

Monte Xisto Órbita is a blend of various grape varieties and plots from Quinta do Monte Xisto (30 per cent from a mixed plot and 70 per cent from Touriga Nacional), with different sun exposures, giving rise to a less extracted wine, with less wood, a different version of Quinta do Monte Xisto wines, while maintaining the dominant characteristics of its terroir: complexity, structure and elegance.

Nicolau de Almeida's Quinta do Monte Xisto stands out in the Upper Douro, in Vila Nova de Foz Côa, for its location on the left bank of the River Douro and its Mediterranean/Continental microclimate. Surrounded by the Marão and Montemuro mountains, it offers ideal conditions for distinctive wines.

With a focus on diversity, the family adopts organic farming, promoting a sustainable ecosystem with the inclusion of woodland, olive groves, almond trees and orchards. Preventive practices, such as infusions and natural fertilisation, align the search for self-sufficiency, while viticulture integrates ancestral wisdom and scientific knowledge, in order to find harmony between human practices and nature.
