Description

Founded in 1776, Boekenhoutskloof is located in the most picturesque corner of the beautiful Franschhoek Valley. The name means "ravine of the Boekenhout" (pronounced Book-n-Howed) due to the indigenous Boekenhout tree, highly valued in woodworking. Since 1993, the property has been restored, and a new vineyard planting program has been established, including the grape varieties Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Sémillon, and Viognier.

Specializing in the production of wine from the Syrah grape variety, Boekenhoutskloof is famous for its wine, The Chocolate Block, a Syrah-based blend that is an unparalleled success in South Africa.
