A long time ago, in a place called Canhotos, in Penso, it was built a house that for years was the only one there, the local population patronize it as ''Casa de Canhotos''. Initially, the area adjacent to the house was made up mainly by crop fields. With the passage of time, and because of the prime location and a favorable microclimate, they were turning into vines composed solely by the Alvarinho grape. In August 2006, the producer Fernando Rodrigues decides to proceed with an Alvarinho brand which he named "Casa de Canhotos Alvarinho", because most of the grapes are from the land adjacent to that house. This wine results exclusively from their own production of grapes through strict selection designed to ensure a high quality product. Aroma focused on grape, citrus fruit, light peach, quite mineral. Taste at ripe fruit involves very balanced acidity with a final full and long. It is a wine that can be drunk young, but its potential is enhanced after some time in the bottle and can be consumed two to three years after bottling.
