After having dedicated about 50 years of his life to Douro viticulture and wine production, José António Castro Ramos Pinto Rosas, decided to follow his dream of creating the "perfect estate" for Port Wine and Douro Wine production. After a long and detailed study of the Douro Demarcated Region and with the help of topographic maps, José Rosas found a property of around 20 hectares, in the Upper Douro near Vila Nova de Foz Côa, which, due to its characteristics, he believed to have the ideal conditions for producing top quality wines. Today, it is Jorge Rosas, son of José Rosas and great-grandson of Adriano Ramos Pinto, founder of the house of the same name, who continues this legacy.
