2020 Vale D. Maria Vinha de Martim white
Description
Vale D. Maria Vinha de Martim is produced with grapes from a small vineyard over 80 years old and with a wide variety of grape varieties, located in Murça, near the village of Martim, which gave rise to the name of this wine. This white wine fermented in new French oak barrels for a minimum of 9 months and has a long aroma with notes of vanilla flower and citrus fruit, which give it freshness and complexity.
The Quinta Vale D. Maria, located in the heart of the Douro, in the Cima Corgo, more precisely in the Torto River Valley, has a history dating back to 1868. However, it was in 1996 that a new era of excellence began, when Cristiano van Zeller acquired the family estate from his wife, Joana Lemos van Zeller. Over more than two decades, Cristiano has led a work of dedication and passion, creating unique wines of recognised quality both in Portugal and beyond.
The acquisition of Quinta Vale D. Maria by the Aveleda group in 2017 represents the continuation of this legacy, adding a long-term vision focused on excellence and sustainability. This philosophy is based on a passion for every detail, which begins with the manual selection of the best berries, continues with the use of traditional winemaking methods and ends with the careful selection of the best French oak barrels. The commitment to a sustainable viticulture model is a priority, ensuring that the quality of the wines is maintained while respecting natural resources.
