2021 Pegos Claros Castelão Vinhas Velhas Reserva red
Description
The Pegos Claros Castelão Vinhas Velhas Reserva red is produced from historic vines, around 70 years old, hand-harvested and transported in small 20 kg boxes. The grapes are foot-trodden on the first day and partially fermented with stems in a lagar, followed by 12 months ageing in used French oak barrels. It displays a ruby colour and an expressive aroma of red fruits, blackberries and black plum, wrapped in delicate vanilla notes and elegant toasted wood, perfectly integrated. On the palate, it is rich and elegant, with soft tannins and a harmonious finish, reflecting the full authenticity and tradition of the Castelão grape variety.
