2023 Sparkling Wine Quinta de San Michel Malvasia de Colares Blanc de Blancs Brut
Description
The Quinta de San Michel Malvasia de Colares Brut Sparkling Wine is produced exclusively from the Malvasia de Colares grape variety, reflecting the uniqueness of the clay-limestone soils and the Mediterranean temperate climate, strongly influenced by the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean.
After a 4-month ageing period in used French oak barrels, the wine underwent an additional 20 months of lees ageing, enhancing its complexity and texture.
On the nose, the Quinta de San Michel Malvasia de Colares Brut Sparkling Wine is delicate and fresh, with citrus aromas of lemon and green apple, herbal notes of mint and spearmint, and a subtle autolytic character with elegant hints of toast and brioche. On the palate, it stands out for its elegance and fine bubbles, displaying flavours of lemon, green apple, and apricot, complemented by notes of smoke and brioche from prolonged lees contact. The finish is long and marked by a vibrant acidity, ensuring freshness and longevity.
The Quinta de San Michel, located in Janas, in the municipality of Sintra, is a property renowned for the quality of its wines, which reflect the unique identity of the Colares region. With vineyards cultivated in the Serra de Sintra and influenced by the Atlantic Ocean breeze, the estate blends winemaking tradition with innovative practices to create wines and sparkling wines of excellent balance and texture.
The estate’s mission is to produce wines with character, respecting the specificities of the terroir while promoting sustainability and environmental preservation.
