2023 Manoella white

This wine comes from a 57-year-old vineyard on a north-facing slope with granite soil, planted with the Gouveio, Viosinho, Rabigato and Códega do Larinho grape varieties, at an altitude of 600 metres. It has an intense, bright colour with aromas of spring flowers and fresh lime. It is round and has good volume in the mouth, with a fine freshness, purity of flavour and excellent balance.

Jorge is the 5th generation of a long line of wine producers and winery owners. So, in 2009, Sandra and Jorge acquired Quinta da Manoella, a property with a history dating back to 1838.

The vineyards at Quinta da Manoella are over a hundred years old, flanked on either side by younger vines, and are capable of producing wines with a high degree of freshness and finesse, and with a concentration that makes them quickly recognised as some of the best wines in the Douro.

Founded in 2001 by winemaker couple Sandra Tavares da Silva and Jorge Serôdio Borges, Wine & Soul has been investing in and buying up old vines and properties in the Pinhão river valley.

The couple aims to create wines that express all the character of the old vines and indigenous grape varieties of the Douro, seeking a balance between concentration, complexity and elegance.
