2023 Quinta de San Michel Malvasia de Colares white
Description
The Quinta de San Michel Malvasia de Colares White is a wine that expresses the authenticity of the Malvasia de Colares grape variety, cultivated in clay-limestone soils and influenced by the Mediterranean temperate climate, marked by the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean.
This wine was aged for 8 months in French oak barrels on the lees, followed by a 24-month maturation in the bottle, ensuring greater complexity and structure.
With a greenish-yellow hue, the Quinta de San Michel Malvasia de Colares White presents an exuberant nose, bringing the essence of the sea into the glass. Aromas of lemon and peach stand out, along with floral notes of jasmine, iodised nuances of seaweed and wet stone, and subtle hints of smoke and butter from barrel ageing. On the palate, it is refined and complex, revealing multiple layers throughout the tasting. The maritime influence is evident, providing a distinctive salinity and dryness on the finish, making this a truly unique and authentic wine.
The Quinta de San Michel, located in Janas, in the municipality of Sintra, is a property renowned for the quality of its wines, which reflect the unique identity of the Colares region. With vineyards cultivated in the Serra de Sintra and influenced by the Atlantic Ocean breeze, the estate blends winemaking tradition with innovative practices to create wines and sparkling wines of excellent balance and texture.
