Description

Violet-red wine where the notes of chocolate and plum are predominant on the nose, together with a light touch of fine tobacco, some blackberry jam and shades of cinnamon. On the palate it is a vibrant wine, with tension and fruity notes of fresh cherry and vanilla, with a sweet tannin. It has a persistent aftertaste with licorice notes.

The wine producer Castell d'Encús is located in the Encús mountains in the Pallars region of Spain. The property has a history dating back to the 12th century when the monks of the Hospitaler Order established a village in this region. The monks also built nine stone-carved fermentation tanks, which are still used today for wine production.

The current winery was founded in 2002 with the aim of recovering the history and tradition of wine production in this region. The winery is managed according to the principles of organic viticulture, and the wines are produced in small batches to ensure quality and uniqueness.

The winery's vineyards are spread across three different locations, each with its own microclimate. Grape varieties grown include Garnacha, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Macabeo.

Castell d'Encús wines are known for their freshness and vibrant acidity. They are produced using traditional methods but also with an innovative approach. The winery uses medieval stone fermenters, stainless steel tanks, and French oak barrels to create wines with different shades and nuances.
