Hayden's Basil bourbon has a golden brown colour and reveals aromas of charred oak, sweet notes of vanilla and caramel with hints of dried fruit. On the palate, the charred oak is complemented by a sweet brown sugar flavour and a touch of black pepper and dried fruit, with a pleasant, lingering finish.
Created in 1992 by Booker Noe, Basil Hayden's introduced a more subtle side to bourbon. This style was inspired by whiskey pioneer Meredith Basil Hayden, a rye farmer from Maryland who moved to Kentucky and began distilling in 1792, opting to use a higher percentage of rye. Booker set out to create a similar high rye blend that would offer the same refined flavour profile.
