2013 Quinta dos Plátanos Tou Noir red

Being part of a wine region, the farm has always been concerned with wine producing. In the middle of the 20th century, Artur de Menezes Corrêa de Sá, who was an agricultural expert but also concerned with banking, kept his attention focused on agricultural activities, mainly wine producing, and was one of the founders of the União dos Viticultores Portugueses (Union of Portuguese Wine Producers). He was still alive when his eldest son, José de Menezes Corrêa de Sá (who was already managing the estate), had vineyards planted with set spaces in between and wires keeping them in place; this made it possible to introduce machinery, first drawn by animals and then fully mechanized; spraying was even made from the air, which was one of the activities considered as pioneering. New wine making methods were learnt with the distinguished expert Mr. Batalha Reis and later, in the 50s, the wine cellar was completely refurbished; both allowed quality bottled wines, with the brand name «Plátanos», to appear in the 60s; even later, when the Wine Producing Region was established, their name changed to Quinta dos Plátanos.
