2016 Alvaro Palacios Finca Dofí Priorat red
Description
Alvaro Palacios is simply a great leader of a movement called "The New Spain", and is probably the best known Spanish winemaker worldwide, thanks to his wines, especially his L'Ermita, considered the most important wine in Spain.
Alvaro was born in a "wine cradle", being one of the nine children of the owner of Palacios Remondo. From an early age, it was clear what profession he would follow. So he went to study in Bordeaux and ended up interning at Château Petrus, where Jean-Pierre Moueix showed him the huge importance of making great wines.
In 1989, Alvaros Palacios settled in the small region of huddled villages and century-old vines perched on hard-to-farm slate slopes. And in 1990 he buys Finca Dofi and begins a project of a lifetime until he reaches the present day as the most influential Spanish winemaker in the world.
