2011 Chryseia red
Description
Chryseia 2011 is an extraordinarily incredible wine. Its very dark and intense colour reflects the best that the Douro Vinhateiro can put in a bottle. On the nose, it is fruity, rich in aromas of black cherries, black plum, and chocolate, with the notes of oak well-integrated and discreet. In the mouth, it reveals a beautiful structure, freshness, and minerality, where the velvety tannins are long, supple, and elegant. It finishes long, persistent, and creamy.
CHRYSEIA was one of the pioneers of the resurgence, now widely recognised, of non-fortified DOURO DOC wines. However, this wine, whose name means "d'ouro" in classical Greek, like the name of the river in Portuguese, remains true to a style very much its own. Elegance and balance predominate in it, having depth without being heavy and presenting itself as full-bodied without being aggressive.
The CHRYSEIA symbolises the meeting of the noble Portuguese tradition with the no less rich Bordeaux tradition, in the sense of a new modernity.
