Description

This is a 100 Year Old Tawny Port made by winemaker João Nicolau de Almeida in honour of Manoel de Oliveira, produced on the filmmaker's own estate, Quinta da Portelinha, located in Santa Marta de Penaguião. It was aged in a single 600-litre barrel and only 300 bottles were produced. The label was designed by Álvaro de Siza Vieira. According to the winemaker, the wine is so rich that each tasting reveals itself in a different way. In this world of complexity, the colour reveals itself in various shades, ranging from topaz, yellow and gold to the greenish colour of the wines, with long and good ageing. On the nose, the first contact is soft and faint, then it gives off aromas of cistus, quince, tobacco, apricot, walnut, caramel, aniseed and orange blossom. It's an endless sequence of flavours.
