Raki is a traditional beverage from Turkey. It is a distilled drink primarily made from dried or fresh grapes, although there are also varieties made with figs and plums. Raki is flavored with anise and is traditionally enjoyed alongside Feta cheese and melon, as well as cucumber, lettuce, and fish. When water or ice is added, Raki takes on a milky appearance. Perhaps due to this fact, and its high alcohol content, Turks refer to it as "lion's milk" (arslan sütü).
