In 1861, in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, Penedès, the Sala family started a venture producing and exporting quality wines. At the beginning of the 20th century, the marriage between Dolores Sala and Pedro Ferrer took place, which would revolutionise the business by uniting Dolores' knowledge of oenology with Pedro's commercial and innovative skills. This marriage gave birth to the Freixenet brand, one of the largest producers of Cava, whose first bottle, bearing the brand's name, was produced in 1911. From the production of its first bottle to the present day, the brand has continued to be governed by its values and today, in addition to producing its own grapes, Freixenet is also supplied with the production of more than 2,000 grape growers in the region, being one of the most emblematic sparkling Cava producers in the world.
