Gammel Dansk is a bitter that was originally created to become a competitor to Underberg and Fernet Branca bitters. It has been matured with 29 types of herbs, spices and even flowers. These herbs and spices include angelica, star anise, nutmeg, aniseed, ginger, bay leaf, gentian, orange and cinnamon, and several others. The full recipe is still kept secret.
