Artur de Barros e Sousa Lda was founded in 1890 by Dr. Pedro José Lomelino and always kept in the family over the years, now belonging to Artur and Edmundo Olim, descendants of the 4th generation. To make Madeira wine, they purchase grapes of selected areas of the Jardim da Serra. Currently, they are only firm whose wine is fully ripened naturally by the traditional process “Canteiro”, refusing to use the method of steaming (which is faster and economic), and any of their wines.
