Knockeen Hills Irish Poteen has a very rich and sweet malty and floral aroma, with hints of melon and citrus fruit. In the mouth it is very flavoursome and powerful, due to its 90% alcohol content, but as soon as the intense alcohol sensation disappears, it reveals a very pleasant aftertaste.

Poteen, also known as Poitín, is an Irish distillate with a history dating back to the 6th century, when Irish monks distilled alcohol from barley and other grains. Being an unaged distillate, Poteen is typically transparent and has a flavour that varies depending on the ingredients. For many years, the production of Poteen was illegal in Ireland, its clandestine manufacture a tradition in rural and remote areas.
