Founded in 1954 by a group of 22 members, the Adega Cooperativa do Cartaxo has its roots in a region with a strong winegrowing tradition where there are historical references to this activity dating back to the 10th century. The Wine Cellar operated until 1974 in the facilities of the former Junta Nacional do Vinho (now IVV). Since then, it has operated in its current facilities, always investing in the reinforcement of its human and technological resources in the service of better wine production. With continuous investment in its human and technological resources at the service of wine production, the Adega do Cartaxo has a social area of around 700 ha and produces around 7 million litres annually. Red wines represent around 70% of this production, forming part of a vast and diversified range of bottled wines.
