Niepoort created two styles of Vintage: Secundum Vintage and Vintage. Compared to classical music, Secundum Vintage would be like Mozart: young, with creative charm, tangible and subtle complexity; in contrast, Vintage would be like Bach: intense, deep, complex, and less accessible.

"Flavours is Niepoort's signature style, and my intention with Secundum is to provide wine drinkers with a Vintage Port that offers more immediate satisfaction, but also possesses the indispensable balance to evolve comfortably in its second decade of life," says Dirk Niepoort.
