Wines with distinct personalities and an intense mineral expressionThe Domaine Billaud-Simon has been part of the Chablis wine region in Burgundy since 1815 and covers almost 17 hectares of vineyards with the Chardonnay variety. All the plots are planted within a radius of two kilometres, on the left and right banks of the river Serein, in the heart of this historic appellation.
Burgundy's terroirs produce wines with distinct personalities and Chablis is no exception, giving its wines an intense mineral expression. The geological heart of the Chablis wine region lies in a bed of marine sediments, algae and shells that formed 155 million years ago, known as the Kimmeridgian. This unusual geology, rich in iodine, is transmitted to Chardonnay through its roots and gives Billaud-Simon wines their unique identity. The semi-continental climate provides ideal conditions for the ripening of the grapes, ensuring the perfect balance between a richness in sugars and a saline freshness.
