A turning point in the history of Port WineFerreira
A turning point in the history of Port WineFounded in 1751, Ferreira is synonymous with exceptional Portuguese wines, with a history closely linked to the evolution of the Douro Demarcated Region and its Port wines and still wines. The brand reached an important turning point under the leadership of Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, known as Ferreirinha, who, with great energy and commercial talent, boosted viticulture in the Douro and promoted social welfare in the region.
After her death, the company became a limited liability company, marking the beginning of a new phase of expansion. Ferreira's values remained intact and were crucial in the creation of iconic wines, such as Barca Velha, in the 1950s. Since 1987, under the management of Sogrape Vinhos, Ferreira has led the national Port wine market.
