Description

Don Papa Rum or The Don, was inspired by the story of one of the heroes of the Philippine revolution: Dionisio Magbuelas, better known as "Papa" Isio. Initially a foreman on a sugar plantation, Papa Isio - healer, "shaman", fortuneteller, rebel, and leader of a group of "babaylanes" - played a key role during the late 19th century in the Philippine revolution. The spirit and leadership of Papa Isio played a critical role in the freedom of Blacks from Spanish rule, leading to the independence of his country.
