Founded in 1828, Springbank remains under the ownership of the same family to this day. It is the only self-sufficient distillery in Scotland, among approximately 120 existing malt distilleries. Springbank carries out its own malting process, uses local peat, and ages and bottles the whisky on-site. By maintaining and preserving traditional and ancient methodologies in whisky production, Springbank is, in essence, a family-run business that, unlike most distilleries, treats its whisky as pure craftsmanship.
