Tiburcio Benegas, a banker in the province of Mendonza, decided to abandon his career and dedicate himself to the production of wine. In 1883 he buys a property called Trapiche, where he applies techniques of wine culture learned in France. Visionary and enterprising, he has become one of the great promoters of the production of quality wines in the region. At the beginning of the XX, it was his son Pedro who took over the direction of Trapiche and consolidated the image of quality, in a remarkable work developed over 50 years. The learning he made on a long trip to wine-growing Europe resulted in the creation of reference wines, among the best in Argentina. Its vineyards add up to over 1000 hectares and are situated between 750 and 1100 meters above sea level.
