A Makers Mark It was America's first distillery to be recognized as such. The first bottle of the brand was bottled in 1958 and already had the famous red wax seal, brand image of Makers Mark. Whiskey is aged for about six years, then bottled and sealed in a bottle in a unique way with red wax in the cork. It is one of the few American whiskeys to be labeled with the "whisky" spelling, most American distillers in general Americans tend to put the word "e" (whiskey), respecting the Irish origin that also uses the letter “e” to name the drink.
