White Oak Akashi 700 Special Blend
Description
Established over 100 years ago, the Eigashima distillery focuses mainly on sake and shochu production. In 1984, however, they began making whisky known as White Oak. In the following years, the distillery produced only blended whiskey, until 2007 when it started producing single malts.
The distillery is unusual in that it only produces whiskey one month a year. Selected barley and malt are imported from Scotland for this production and the same water used for the production of their sake and shochu is used. Eigashima prides itself on following ancient traditions. Its long history is very fascinating for anyone interested in Japan's rich history.
