1884年ポートに創業された歴史あるワインメーカー。ヴィーニョ・ヴェルデ、ドウロ（ポートとスティルワイン）、トラズ・オズ・モンテス、ダン等に広大な自社葡萄園を所有、品質の高いディリーワインから見事なヴィンテージポートまで数多くのポルトガルワインを送り出すポルトガル屈指のワイン生産者。 1998年、ジョゼ・マリア・ヴィエイラ氏の率いるJMFグループの傘下に入り、最新のブドウ栽培技術と新たな生産設備の導入によりワインの品質は大きく向上しました。同社の看板商品「ガタオ」のリニューアルやトラズ・オズ・モンテス産スパークリングワイン「フィタ・アズール」は世界のワイン市場で大きな成功を収めました。
