In 1974, 100 years after the creation of the white Champagne Cristal, Jean-Claude Rouzaud decided to create the cuvée Cristal Rosé. To achieve this, he selected the best Pinot Noir grapes from the Grand Cru de Aÿ vineyards, which are now cultivated according to biodynamic principles. The unique clay-limestone soil, which gives the grapes an exquisite minerality, allows the vines, in the best harvest years, to achieve exceptional ripeness, complemented by crystal clear acidity.

Thus Cristal Rosé is a well-accomplished blend with about 55% Pinot noir and 45% Chardonnay, comprising that 20% of the wine is matured in oak casks, Cristal Rosé is produced using the bleeding process after cold maceration. Cristal Rosé cuvée is aged, on average, for 6 years in Louis Roederer's cellars before being commercialised, thus revealing the aromatic intensity and soft and sweet flavours complemented by a remarkable freshness.
