The Jean Fournier domaine is one of the oldest in the village of Marsannay-la-Côte. There is written evidence of a winegrower named Fournier dating back to the reign of Louis XIII. Today, Jean Fournier and his family manage nearly 16 hectares of vines located on the best terroirs of Marsannay (mainly red, but also rosé and white) and Gevrey-Chambertin. All of their wines have strong personalities, which is due to the fact that the grapes come from old vines (up to 60 years old) and undergo an often long ageing process (sometimes up to 3 years). This technique enables them to produce full, bold, powerful wines - Burgundies that can be cellared for many years.
